CLASSES
SUSPENDED

COVID-19 FAQs

Updated 3/13/2020

Online classes will begin on March 25th. Please be patient as we work out any bugs that come along from the experience.

Foundations Class (ages 5-8) from 4:00-4:50
Skills Class (ages 9-11) from 5:00-6:50
Studio Class (ages 12-17) from 7:00-8:50

As we work out our online classes, please feel free to speak up about any requests or changes you would like to see.

Classes are being suspended as of March, Friday the 13th.

We have not yet determined when classes will recommence, but information will be available from this webpage & through our newsletter.

Be sure to double check that our newsletter is not being lost in your spam folders.

Please understand, as a private business, this will hurt our organization and staff  greatly financially and otherwise and your support through this is very important to us.

Your ongoing support throughout this ordeal is crucial and deeply valued by us.

Oam Studios has always tried to be extremely flexible to the schedules of our students and parents and will absolutely do so regarding the situation we face with COVID-19

Many of our current attendance policies will already help in insuring that our Art Families will not lose any of their investment in their children’s art education. For example, if you feel currently that it is best to pause classes for your children at the studio, then our current policy of freezing accounts should suit you and your families needs.

While classes are suspended, all accounts will be frozen. Frozen accounts will not have any class credits or excused absences removed from the attendance sheets.

Oam Studios has always had a No Refund Policy. We truly appreciate your understanding of our inability to financially provide refunds even under these unique circumstances. The studio would likely have to permanently shutdown if that were the case.

We hope that you will be able to bear with us and know that we are still able to freeze accounts and insure that your child or children will not lose their class credits, if you choose to freeze their account. Also, if or when we have to close the studio, following the lead of our local school districts, that accounts will also be frozen automatically at that time and class credits will be guaranteed to be available upon reopening.
If you receive any payment reminders or late notices through our invoice system, please do not feel as though you have to make that payment at this time.

There are quite a bit of invoices to deal with and no easy solution to stop them all in mass from sending auto reminders.

I apologize for the annoyance 🙁

You Tube Channel Subscribe:

During the weekend I put out a video message to our students and would like to ask that you subscribe to our channel as our staff starts to create YouTube lessons for our art students and others. If you subscribe then you will automatically be notified when new content is uploaded.

As us teachers were deciding how to bring content to our art students, it occurred to me that children all over the world are locked away in their homes without access to art lessons. This is our chance to be art heroes we thought.

These will be fun video lessons that we would like to share with all the children of the world and our students that are kept at home. Everyone should have access to fun lessons during these difficult times.

A patreon account will be available for subscribers to support this vision:

Master Omar Morineau & Staff

Dear Art Families,

Out of an abundance of caution we will be suspending classes at our Pleasanton location for an unspecified amount of time. We will update you on changes as they occur.

Our Tracy location will remain open at this time because it currently has a limited amount of students. We will be able to also adjust classes so that students are separated at a distance and also reschedule so that one or two students attend at a time. All hygiene protocols in Tracy will diligently be in place.

Online Video:

We are interested in providing our students art lessons via online videos. Please let us know as well if this is a service that interests you and your children.

If so, we are hoping to provide videos that will allow our students to continue their art education while in the safety of their home. These lessons could be supplemented with FaceTime office hours with the child’s art teacher.
We are considering creating these videos weekly , if adequate demand is high enough, so as to keep the students art classes on pace with our regular schedule.

It may take some time to adjust to these changes and in setting up the online lessons so we please ask for your patience.

Please let us know if you have any recommendations and interests in taking part.

Personal Note:

We thank you very much for your understanding and your ongoing support. We will strive to make our studio even more efficient, more hygienic, & of a higher quality during this closure.

I will personally continue to improve our studio even as our classes are suspended by implementing new protocols, restructuring and thorough sanitization.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you and your families during this regretful time and please be ensured that all accounts will be frozen and available upon reopening.

We have so much gratitude for your patronage and support of Oam Studios and we promise to continue our pursuit of being the best Art Studio for Children in the Bay Area.

Master Omar Morineau & Staff

Dear Art Families,

There is a serious concern about the situation regarding  COVID-19 and understandably so. First and foremost the staff of Oam Studios Art Academy takes this very seriously and hopes that we can all work together, share our thoughts, and do what is best for our community.

We have been keeping up with news, health information and guidance from reputable and trustworthy sources. We are taking many precautions of which I will describe below and will be following the lead of our local school district regarding temporary closure if or when necessary.

There are many aspects of this world crisis to address so I am breaking them down into categories. If there is a concern that I did not address, please be sure to respond to this email so that I can update the information and inform all our members.

Signs & Symptoms:

By now all parents should know that by no means should you have your child attend Oam Studios or other gatherings if your child is showing symptoms of any kind.

Although children have been mostly affected with only mild symptoms, please remember that many families have older adults living with them that are more at risk  of the serious consequences of this disease.

Any student showing signs or symptoms will be immediately sent home from the studio. Parents will be notified to immediately pick them up.
Please let us all be responsible regarding this firstly.

Likewise, all Oam Staff have been instructed not to attend work if they are feeling off and/or showing any of the slightest signs or symptoms of a cold or flu.

Health & Hygiene Precautions:

It is very important to us to maintain a hygienic environment at the studio to avoid & prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Our staff have been instructed to wipe down tables at the end of each class using cleaning products that are able to kill viruses.

All tools and materials will be wiped down with antiviral products after use and during classes including items such as paintbrushes, pencils and erasers.

Tools and materials will not be shared amongst students during use.

We also are providing hand sanitizer at each desk that is antimicrobial at 70% alcohol which is antiviral. Still though, we know that soap is the best way to keep clean and regular hand washing will take place.

Students are being informed to not touch their eyes, mouth, or face. If seen doing so, teachers are instructed to have them immediately wash their hands for the advised amount of time.

Students are also being reminded to sneeze or cough into their elbow. If the sneezed or cough recurs, their parents will be notified and will be required to pick them up.

Attendance:

Oam Studios has always tried to be extremely flexible to the schedules of our students and parents and will absolutely do so regarding the situation we face with COVID-19

Many of our current attendance policies will already help in insuring that our Art Families will not lose any of their investment in their children’s art education. For example, if you feel currently that it is best to pause classes for your children at the studio, then our current policy of freezing accounts should suit you and your families needs.

Local School Districts:

If any local public schools in the Pleasanton, Dublin, Tracy and San Ramon areas take measures to close down, then we will follow their lead and do so as well. Please understand, as a private business, this will hurt us greatly financially and otherwise and your support through this is very important to us. Without daily operations, Oam Studios and our staff will be affected financially. Your ongoing support throughout this ordeal is crucial and deeply valued by us.

Regarding Refunds:

Oam Studios has always had a No Refund Policy. We truly appreciate your understanding of our inability to financially provide refunds even under these unique circumstances. The studio would likely have to permanently shutdown if that were the case.

We hope that you will be able to bear with us and know that we are still able to freeze accounts and insure that your child or children will not lose their class credits, if you choose to freeze their account. Also, if or when we have to close the studio, following the lead of our local school districts, all accounts will be frozen automatically at that time and class credits will be guaranteed to be available upon reopening.

Personal Note:

As many of you know, I had decided to open a second studio in Tracy at the start of the last school year and it has already placed a lot of financial stress on me and the business alike.

I opened the new studio because I wanted to create not only art but opportunity. Opportunity for our staff to have more financially rewarding careers, opportunity for new employees seeking a rewarding career in the arts, and more opportunities for children in Tracy where I now live.

This current situation could not come at a worst time for all of us associated with Oam Studios Art Academy; Our children, staff and network.

Some will be more impacted than others and some less, but I believe that we will all get through this by having compassion for each of our experiences regardless of the differences.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or if you have any ideas that can help all of us. My career has been dedicated to art, the children that we teach, the families we serve, our art studio and the staff that makes this all happen; I want to be there for you all in any capacity possible. Please feel free to reach out.

We have so much gratitude for your patronage and support of Oam Studios.
